CanLII Launches Search+ to Support Legal Research
March 11, 2026The Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII) is a non-profit founded by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada on behalf of its 14-member law societies. CanLII’s mandate is to provide open online access to judicial decisions and legislative documents to:
- Support members of the legal profession in their work; and
- Provide the public with permanent open access to laws and legal decisions from all Canadian jurisdictions.
CanLII has launched Search+, a new artificial intelligence (AI) powered tool that helps make legal research accessible by allowing users to:
- Describe research needs in plain and simple language
- Retrieve curated search results
- Assess results through contextual analysis, summarization, and prioritization
