DESCRIPTION:Qualifies for 1.0 CPD Hour\, all of which qualifies for Ethics. \nIn this insightful webinar with presenters Céleste McKay and Craig Benjamin\, we will explore the profound impact of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. This presentation will be divided into two parts: \nPart 1: Historical Overview and Significance \n\nDiscover the history of the Declaration and its importance.\nLearn about the Indigenous advocacy efforts that led to its adoption.\nUnderstand the key elements of the Declaration and its relationship to other international human rights standards.\n\nPart 2: Application in Canada \n\nExamine how the Declaration has been incorporated into Canadian legislation.\nExplore its application by the courts.\nSee how it is fostering new partnerships between Indigenous Peoples and other sectors of society.\n\nCéleste McKay will share her unique insights from her experience advocating for Indigenous Peoples at the UN during the Declaration’s final development phases and subsequently on co-development of implementation strategies. \nThere will be dedicated time for questions after each segment.\n_________________________________\nFor virtual activities\, registration closes one hour before the program start time.
