SUMMARY:Free Workshop - The Keepers of Stories (CPD 334)
DESCRIPTION:Qualifies for 2.0 CPD hours. \nIndividuals in helping professions – whether it be health care\, counsellors or lawyers – regularly interact with individuals who are there as a result of traumatic experiences.  Part of the helper’s role is to listen and respond to these stories\, which can often be intense and difficult. Over time\, exposure to trauma stories can negatively impact a person’s view of the world\, their physical health and their work. On September 14th\, the Regina and Area Sexual Assault Centre will deliver The Keepers of Stories\, a workshop designed to help you recognize the signs of vicarious trauma (or “burn out”) and help you as an individual\, and collectively as an organization\, develop strategies to build and maintain resilience. This is for any lawyer working with trauma\, and particularly those working with families and survivors of residential schools\, sexual violence and interpersonal violence. \nPresenters: Moravia de la O and Mary Zwane
